As part of the continuing successful partnership between Lincolnshire County Council and East Midlands Trains to improve the ‘whole journey’ experience, a new through ticket has been created to tie in with the launch of Metheringham’s station improvements. This will allow passengers using the Council’s rural CallConnect bus services to buy an integrated ticket that will allow them travel both on the bus and on East Midlands Trains services to Lincoln, Ruskington, Sleaford, Spalding and Peterborough. The new ticketing agreement is one of the first such agreements involving demand responsive bus and rail in the country, and will provide people from rural communities with an easy and hassle free way to travel to nearby towns and cities. Passengers will be able to use through tickets from CallConnect buses to the rail services at both Sleaford and Metheringham stations. Tickets can be purchased from CallConnect drivers, from on board rail staff and from Lincoln and Sleaford rail stations. Click here for more information.
Andy Moore, Head of Stations for East Midlands Trains, said: “This is a great example of how much can be achieved through successful partnership working. The improvements at Metheringham will bring some fantastic benefits for all passengers using the station and with the improvements for rail, bus, cycle and car users, it really will make the station a fully integrated local transport hub.”
Cllr William Webb, Lincolnshire County Council, added: “We know how important it is to help people get around Lincolnshire, especially in rural areas, as well as attract people to travel into the county. These superb station enhancements and the link-ups with CallConnect buses will really benefit passengers and encourage rail travel, which will also reduce road congestion and carbon emissions. Adding to this further are the improvements in reliability and rolling stock from East Midlands Trains, successfully upgrading our transport network in spite of these difficult times.”
